    Hello, I'll be very helpful for your opinions on which path should i take;

    I'm planning on going to usa to pursue PG in medicine..my girlfriend is a US citizen by naturalization and currently studying medicine in india..now I need to vist USA for giving usmle exam and to undergo observership in the next march/april...what would be my best option? going on a tourist visa without declaring my relationship or marrying around feb(can't marry earlier due to gf's exams) and filing for fiance or spouse visa? plz help...thanks in advance!

      Hello, Drjetset.

      I personally feel, if you go with a Spouse visa (i am guessing you will be issued a GC), you will have less paperwork hassle there.

      Fiance visa is very tough to get, is what i have heard.

      Are you planning to go only for the exams? Or, you want to stay there for the entire PG? You did not mention F1 visa?

      Cheers,

        Hi there, thanks for your reply.
        Doing the whole pg there is the plan but at first I'll be only going for an exam and hopefully observership in the next March.. And like I mentioned I can't get married before March Coz of her important exams... I'm worried if it'll be a problem if I travel there on visitor's visa in march /april and then get married to a us citizen in India after returning and filing for immigrant visa

        P. S. - they don't give F1 visa for medical pg, options are h1 and j1,which have their on demerits..

          Hello, Drjetset.

          What if you travel on B1/B2, get married and not return before getting GC.

          If you marry within US, you are given conditional GC for 2 years. After 2 years, your marriage claims are verified and if found ok, the conditions on the GC are removed. In 2 years, you will have the GC sorted out. You would spend this much time during your PG, anyway. Return to India only after you have got the GC.

          My personal opinion. Hope this helps.
