Hi all,
here is my situation,
I have a criminal record for offenses not involving prison sentences from my late teens which i am not at all proud of, these including drink driving, criminal damage, drunk and disorderly and shoplifting when i was about 13. I am now 34 i have a family, i run my own business and i'm a law abiding person .
I went to Florida with my partner and 2 kids in 2008 unaware that i was ineligible to travel on the visa waiver program, I was only some time after i returned i realized my crimes involved moral turpitude. I had never heard of the word turpitude till i filled the form in and wrongly assumed it did not apply to me so ticked no and everything was fine. i would have never risked trying to get in to The US with or without my family without the correct visa.
I am now wanting to take my partner of 17yrs who is a pharmacist to New York for 5 nights to see a concert, do some shopping and see the sights, I have booked the interview also the concert tickets but held back on the flights and hotel.
ive read that because i've entered the US before which is classed as an unlawful enter i will almost certainly be refused a tourist visa and if i did get one i would be arrested on arrival to the US. is this true?
also with my criminal record on top of the unlawful entry i don't feel like i stand a chance.
If anyone can shed any light on my chances, or has had a similar situation and been granted/refused a visa it would be good know.
thanks for reading this post
