Hi,
My husband and I are both employed and green card holders. We are working on applying for my father's visitor visa. He has never applied for a visa before. He did not want to travel to US earlier as my mother was unwell and needed constant care. My mother passed away in 2011.
My father is retired and lives with my brother and sister-in-law in India. They have 2 young kids. I have a few questions:
1) In my letter to the consulate should I mention that my father was caring for my mother all these years and hence could not travel out of the country?
2) The purpose of the visit will be purely tourism and spending time with us. His ties to India are my brother's family with 2 grand kids and 2 properties in India. Will this be sufficient?
3) Should the letter (to consulate and invitation/sponsorship) be from both my husband and I or just one of us?
4) We are thinking of applying for my in-laws visitor visa at the same time. Is it advisable?
Thanks,
-DSK
