Problem in getting bank statement and account verification letter

I want to know whether passbook of a bank account is sufficient as my bank is having some server issues since last few days. Also, if I take passbook, do I have to take photocopies also.
My other bank is not giving me account verification letter as according to them bank statement is sufficient for account verification.
Please advise.

Passbook / bank statement is good enough and you do not need to carry any photocopies.

My boyfriend will be sponsoring me for my plan visit early next year. I have a work here in cebu now. Would just like to know if i need to show a bank statement. and what should i do if dont have that? is that an ultimate requirement?
