  • RE: Visiting USA earlier then the expected arrival date mentioned at DS-160 form

    Hello:

Recently I have got a B-1 / B-2 visa from Canada where I indicated I am expecting to visit USA on April, 2014. However in this December due to high price of ticket to my home country from Canada, I have decided to go to my home country via New York where I have found some very cheap deals. While doing so I am intending to explore New York for a week before getting the flight to my home country.

My question is will it be permissible to do so to visit USA for the first time before the expected arrival date mentioned at DS-160 form provided I indicated my trip has not been finalized yet??

If you can provide me an answer that will be highly appreciated as I would like to book the ticket as soon as possible.

    Thanks

    Hello, Black Cat.

As long as you travel on valid visa (dates when the visa stamped on your passport is valid), it does not matter if your expressed travel date on DS160 was different.

I did that on my B1/B2 - i applied for the visa in June, and had mentioned travel intent for December. I got the visa in June and travelled in September.

    Hope this helps.

    Wishing you luck.

    Cheers,
These are my personal thoughts. I am not a professional.

    Wishing you luck.
