  • A question on ECNR

My mom's passport says ECNR required. She is of 50 years of age. But my father's passport says ECNR not required. So will there be any issue when she goes for the Visa interview and also when she enters into the United States. And also what should she do inorder to get her passport stamped as ECNR not required
    Thanks,
    Nithya

Indian immigration at the airport won't let her leave without the proper
stamp. She will have to submit a form to request the ECNR stamp at the passport office which issued her passport. (with the passport, a fee and the required documents).

      nithyackm,

You mean that ur Mom's passport does not have ECNR stamp & ur Dad's passport has ECNR stamp? I remember my parents mentioning something about this saying one of their passports has this stamp, but I did not pay attention to that. I will ask these details to them soon. This was the related info I got that from the website provided by Taco.

Short answer: ECR stamp should not cause any issues in getting a US visa or to travel to the USA.
