B2 for parents to attend grad walk

Hi,

My F-1 visa is expired but I have applied for OPT and it is pending approval. I have sent a letter of invitation to my parents with the International students organization confirming my program and graduation schedule. I am not sure if the expired visa will be an issue and if I should request my aunt to be their sponsor instead.
