  • Parents going to students graduation day

    Hi all,

I'm a 55 year old middle class citizen of India. My sons whole education was sponsored by my sister and her husband. I am not an income tax payee.

I don't have sufficient bank balance to show also. My sister and her husband want to sponsor mine and my wife's trip to US for my sons graduation.

Can anyone please tell me what are the necessary documents and the complete procedure for applying for the Visa. Or is it even possible?

Any response or links to external websites also welcome.

    Thanks & Regards,

    Matheen

The main criteria they look at is your ties to your home country that will bring you back.

For parents that includes a stable job with good income , for retired ( good savings)
    and other kids in India.

If you are asking a relative to fund and you are saying you do not have strong income or bank balance,
chances will become slim. And more so if you do not have any other children in India.

THat said, some visa officers are lenient and can listen to your whole story.
So, there is no harm in applying once, if your sis is funding. If your sis and her husband also apply with
you for the trip( all 4 of you) , it may increase the chances somewhat.
