  • Entering from Canada to USA

    Hi experts,
My brother has single-entry Canadian and multiple entry US visitor visa.
He came to visit my sister last month in Canada and now he is visiting me in USA.
He entered US by car. He is planning to fly back to India from USA itself and not going back to Canada.

How can we make sure that his entry exit record in Canada has been updated to note that he left Canada?
We would like to make sure that he does not have any issues getting Canada visitor visa next time.

    Thanks.

This is a US visa forum so can't tell you much about canadian laws. If this was the other way round like if he entered US , went to canada by road and then departed from canada to India his US departure WOULD NOT be correctly recorded.

I assume the same would be true for his canadian departure it would not be correctly recorded since he left canada by road.
But I am not too sure, just go through the canada border agency website.

Why would the departure not be recorded? The car number plates and passport information will be scanned, and then recorded. Tell him to make sure to request a passport stamp if he doesn't automatically get one (which he will), so that's proof for future if electronic records don't get updated.

I talked to Canadian immigration lady on the border. She said Canada does not have exit stamp system like some countries and my relative is ok leaving from USA directly, unless he was told to inform immigration of his depature by immigration, which he wasn't, so we are planning that he will leave USA to India directly. Thanks all.

No, he will get a US ENTRY stamp, which is in essence a Canadian exit stamp.
