Re-entry on B2 Visa

Hello,

Parents got 6 month stay at POE. dad wants to go back to India in 1.5 months and return to US after staying 4 months in India. mom will still stay in US till expiration of I94.
What would be the potential risks and questions at POE on reentry?

Staying 1.5 months and returning in 4 months. I do not think there is much risk as 4 months is ok enough. Though , if he makes it 5 months , he
won't have any problems. It all depends on the officer at POE how much stay they will give him.

I'm curious where this 5 months is from. Usually, 6 months between trips is the suggested gap, isn't it?
