volunteer work on B1 /B2

I have a question can a person work volunteerly on visit visa..?
can he work voluneterly in a religous org just for sake of help..

If your I-94 is stamped B2 you must apply for change to B1 before you can
volunteer.

in my passprot it says B1/b2 visa..
and in my i94 it is stemped as visit visa. am being offerned to work in a non profit organization as a volunteer for office manager,But that is a salaried post, and i will be working on that post as a volunteer.a part of my duties will include having a communication lines with all business man.and also i will be having a PO box a saprate phone line etc if a non profit organization wants me as a volunteer f0r office manager,, will that be considered as breaking immigration laws.??

You can volunteer on a B1. But be careful not to volunteer in a position that
is usually or could be a paid position for others.

WElll so you mean if i woudl be holding this postion that would break an immigration law.??.If that is so..OH i do not want to do that....

No, you would not be breaking the law if volunteering. Sometimes if
the work you are doing is usually a paid one for others , Immigration can suspect that you MAY be receiving money(even if you are not) .
A lot of people do it so later they can get work sponsorhip at the same place
but if you are not going to derive any benefit out of it, I 'd suggest
you avoid it.
