Inviting my sister

Hi ,

I am planning on inviting my sister to visit me for a short period of 3 months.I am wondering what should I write in my invitation letter. She is currently working in a call center . My other sister lives in California .Both of us are green card holders. I am confused as to how to invite her as all I have heard is in the negative.

I would really really appreciate it if any of you could help me out in this matter.

Hi Karthik,

I also have a younger sister(23 yrs) unmarried and working. Recently my parents and my sister appeared for Visitor Visa interview @Delhi Consulate
on 21st Sept.They all got the visa.My parents applied for 3 months and my sister for 2 months.My husband sponsored them and we are also green card holder.

Just Collect all the documents, organize them properly and send them.Ask your sister to collect her all documents and organize them properly and be confident.I used sample invitation letter given on immihelp.com & this worked for me.So,please think positive.

Hi Rashi ,

Thank you very much for your encouraging reply. I had a few questions for you if you do not mind answering them.

1. Did you sister have to show any property ties back to India .
2. What kind of documents did your sister have to prepare . I know there is a list on this site , but I would like to know from someone who has actually been through this... as to the documentation that was required.

3. My sister just started working. Would that be a problem.

I sure hope you don't mind my questions as I am trying to prepare the best I can before my sister visits the consulate.

we are 2 sisters and 1 brother(married & in govt. job in india).
Yes, My sister showed property ties back to India as she have a residential land plot in her name approx (12 lakhs) , Bank account at SBI approx 99,000 and Bank account at ICICI Bank approx 70,000.My sister is working for last 1.5 yrs.

Photographs(my brother'marriage,my marriage and some general family photos)
Appointment letter
Leave letter
all the letter from previous employers(she changed her job in june 2005)
all the marksheets and certificates
few bank statements

Your sister just started working.If it is 2-3 months , that would not be a problem.Officer will definitely ask questions regarding her job, so prepare her according to her job.Ask visa for 2 months.
My parents and sister got 10yrs multiple entry visa.
My dad and my sister were positive and confident right from the begining that they will get visa,although i was not sure reading the experiences on this site.
