  • Applying for B2 in UK with Indian Passport, please help !

    Hello,

I’m Indian citizen studying in UK presently, planning to apply for B2 visa from UK , What I wanted to know is till when my visa will be valid if I get it approved from UK. Like from India you usually get it for 10years.

So in UK, What would be the validity of my visa ?

    Thanks in advance

    No one can predict this.
It is up to the officer ; looking at your situation, they can give you any validity; from 6 months single entry to 10 years multiple entry.
And that is true for all countries including India.

      Thank you for your reply,

Could you place also advise what all documents I should carry. I already got one rejection when I had applied in India but I was working that time and now I’m studying here.

Isn't it that you posted before under a different user name.

        Look at the US embassy in London website, they must have it listed under non-immigrant visas. Or the usual;
leave cum enrolment proof at college, your UK student visa, proof of funds ( bank statement), travel plans ( be clear about where all
you want to go in US and exactly how many days, where you will stay ) List all your co-travelers in DS 160 and take copies of their visas.

Yes, you got me right. Just registered at the site.

          Please advice,

          1. Do I need to take the original passports of my co-travellers (friends and sibling) ? or just visa copies will do ? As my sister is in India, she and her husband visited US in october for tourism (2 weeks) and now they are again planning to visit US with me in March 2014

          2. Bank statements : As I have mentioned earlier, I came here in UK in september. Its been just 2 months now which is the reason funds are marginal, GBP 3000 approx. But I’m maintaing a very good bank balance in my bank account in India. Shall I carry both the bak statements ? Or shall I wait for some time to apply ?

          3. In my first application, I have mentioned my brother-in -law in relative column in Form DS-160, and he was sponsoring my trip. But this time I’m sponsoring myself and I’m planning this trip with my friends and sibling with her husband, during my break at university. Do I need to mentions his name again in the form as i have mentioned earlier or is it fine mention my sister (she is on GC) instead of him ?

          Thanks in advance.

Just take visa copies of your co-travelers. I do not think they will even ask for that.
You will have to mention your sister ( not your BIL) under the question " do you have any immediate relatives in US?"

DO you mean you came to UK in september as a new student? I was under the impression you were in UK for at least a year.
If that is true, then you should not be applying for a visitor visa so soon. THey will deny you just on the fact that '
how can you plan a trip to US so early in your study curriculum and when you just landed in UK?"

Yes I have just arrived in september 2013, And I have complete one month break at my university so we are planning the trip as per my vacation.

Which is the reason why I have asked you weather I should apply from India or UK.

I am sorry I am still wondering how I missed that. Nevertheless, it does not affect the outcome. Because then you should not be applying anywhere at this time. See, in India I do not think you stand a chance because your situation is worse than when you were denied the last time . Worse why? because now you are showing them your potential to move out of the country ie to UK and other negatives are still the same, young age, single status and a close relative settled in US.
What they want to see is strong ties to home country while in your application you will have no ties anywhere.

If you spend at least a year in UK as a student , they think you are committed to the course and will return to complete it. So wait, till next year.
Or if you want to take a chance , go ahead, if you get denied, you will be losing $160.

                  Hi,
                  Thanks for your reply.

I have decided to apply, as we are already planning a trip for new years and christmas this year to US.

Could you please suggest what should be the best answer to “why your visa got rejected earlier” in the application form.. Can I go brief on this one as they say DS-160 is all they look into .

                  Please advice

Does not matter; they know already. If they gave you a 214b form, just write that. If they did not and did not tell you why you were denied; just write
                    'Do not know".

Yes, they had given me 214b, Shall I also mention the date and brief it in a single line ?
