I have just made the NEFT transfer and yet to receive the MRV receipt to fill on the UStraveldocs website. On the left hand side on the website, it shows the earliest available appointment date when I log in to my profile. Is this date for the fingerprinting or for the visa interview? Can someone clarify? What will be the next steps as soon as I enter the MRV receipt number once I receive it?

The earliest available appointment date shown to you is the Visa interview date. Finger printing dates are always available and you will never find a problem with that. One small piece of advice, ideally avoid fixing finger printing date just a day before the final interview date, keep a gap of 2-3 days so that you can be much more relaxed.
