Hi

My interview for b2 visa is next week and I wanted to know is it ok to show the interviewer a document that I think it will be helpful for my situation even if he didn't ask me to show it. For example if he asked me a question about my work but didn't ask me to show him a letter from work can I show it to him.

I do not think so. These days they rely the least on documents for the decision. They mostly look at your DS 160 and some questions they will ask verbally.
And they get irked if you try to show them they did not ask for.
