Self sponsor for my parents to visit USA

I filled DS 160 form for my parents and mentioned that they sponsor themselves. I took appointment for fingerprints and visa interview. But I came to know that they have to show large amount of money and the cost includes air tickets, shelter and food. My father retired recently and he is getting a pension. They have 6L in their bank account and they are running an educational institution of their own and get some money through it, they have a own house. Is this enough to prove they can self sponsor.

Otherwise, can I write a letter mentioning they self sponsor only for air tickets and I take care of their food and shelter and other expenses in USA.

Please help me. What should I do now?

splitting of funding air tickets /lodging etc. does not work. It is either 'self' or "child in US"
The main thing is the answer to the question in the form " who is funding the trip"
the officer reads that and decides. If you have already written "self funding" in the form, just go with that and let fate decide. THough you are right their savings and retiree status may not be enough to show self funding . OR Call stanley center and see if you can change the form and show funding by you.You will have to redo both the forms. If they let you do that, then you will have to send an I-134 and your bank statements with tax return.

My parents get at least 40k INR per month from their own educational institution they are running and my father is getting pension monthly. Does this help in any way for them to be eligible for self sponsor?

What did your dad write as his occupation in the form ; retired or running an insitution?
And what did he write his income in the form?

this will have a bearing on the decision as the officer reads the form and decides.

The help service told me to fill new ds160 forms and ask my parents to take both old and new forms to the appointment. I changed sponsorship and sent them new confirmation pages to take with them for fingerprint appointment. I will send I 134 and required documents for visa interview. Thanks for your help.

Please help,

My parents went for OFC appointment and gave new ds160 confirmation pages at the visa center. But the guy scanned old code for my father and new code for my mother. So my father has self sponsor and we sponsor for my mother only. Also, I am thinking to tell my father to show the new ds160 form at visa interview and tell them they changed sponsorship status in new ds160 forms and the guy by mistake scanned the old form for my father. Does this work?
