Visitor Visa interview in different location

Dear admin and all users

I am trying to process a visitor visa for my father. He lives in Uttaranchal, India and the DEFAULT interview location as given in the schedule an appointment is showing as Delhi.
We do not have any relatives in Delhi . It will be tough for my father to do all by himself in Delhi as he is old.

He is visiting my sister in Mumbai in January mid.
Is there any way I can schedule /request Mumbai as the interview location?

All you can do is contact the Delhi Consulate, by phone or email, and request a transfer. It might have been easier for him to have used the sister's address when completing the DS-160.

Hi Ray

Actually I haven't yet submitted his DS-160 form. When I started filling the DS-160 form for my father I selected the location as Mumbai
Does that makes my work easier?

Now the thing is when I'll actually schedule the appointment for him, not sure if it will give Mumbai as an option( his passport was issued from Dehradun)

(The one I did earlier was just to try how to schedule the appointment /get dates)

The interview location is not decided by from where the passport was issued, but the residence address you will input on the form DS-160.

He can apply at any consulate.

In most countries, there is only one location where a U.S. visa interview will take place. The exceptions, however, such as Mexico, Italy, and India, also, may have multiple U.S. consulate locations. Though the DS-160 is completed online, there are five separate "Visa Application Locations" in India. So even if you complete the DS-160, you then have to deal with one of five such application centers. I would still expect that the address you input on the DS-160 might govern which of the Visa Application Centers will accept your paperwork.

In DS 160 there is a place to enter your residential address and there is a place to enter the consulate where you will be applying. The DS160 website itself makes it clear that the consulate entered in DS160 does not matter and you can use the same DS160 to schedule the appointment at any US consulate all over the world.

As for the residential address entered in DS160, in years past US consulates in India followed jurisdiction as to residents of which states could apply at which consulates. But in recent years they have lifted that requirement and citizens of India can apply at any US consulate in India.

Getting this through the interview scheduling system may be difficult though and you may need to take help from a scheduling service (Stanley) agent. This is because the residential address that you enter in the interview scheduling system determines the consulate.

Address on passport does not matter. What you need to truthfully answer on your DS160 applications is the real address where you are currently staying.

Plz I need help in any form...I applied for US Visa interview in India last year in India but I wanna apply for a new interview here in south Africa but it keep giving me interview location in India but I need interview location in south Africa. Can anyone help plz
