Right now, my father's tourist visa is expiring next month and his I-130 status is pending. According to the USCIS site, he can file an I-485 for a green card while the I-130 is still pending (Two step process here: https://www.immihelp.com/family-based-greencard/).
I want to know whether he should file for a Visa extension (I-539) or a Green Card (I-485) right now. If it's the I-485, does he also have to file for a Visa extension or can he stay here while it's pending?
