  • Student sponsoring parents' visit visa

    Hi,

I am on an F1 student visa and am willing to sponsor my parents B2 visa.
I have some queries in this regard:

    1. Is there a ***** number for the amount of bank balance that needs to be shown here as support? Would $10000 be sufficient?
    2. If the bank balance is insufficient, is it a good idea for my parents to say that they will be partially supporting themselves for their trip (my dad is self-employed in and has immovable assets in India)? Is this better than me funding them completely?
    3. My wife lives with me here in the US and is working on an L1 visa. Is it possible for me to add her on as a sponsor or co-sponsor for my parents' visa? Is this better than me funding them solely?
    4. Is there merit in doing both #2 and #3?

    Thank you in advance.

split funding( co-sponsorship) does not work for a simple visit visa.
    It should be straightforward.

If your dad is earning very well like 10-12L/yr or has good savings like 15- 20L , he can show self funding; that is the best.
if not, your wife can send I-134 and show she is funding. though it will decrease the chances somewhat.
You being a student should not show you are funding as they look at the funding person's employment and income.

how much does your dad earn per month or per year? (Documented income) ?
How much savings does he have roughly?
