I want to invite my mother (widowed) and my Sister (22 year old, unmarried) to USA on B2 visa.

My mother is on Govt pension and owns a house. My sister is Working for a known IT company in India and has 1.5 years of work experience.
I am confused weather I should file there B2 visa together or separately??

I have following queries -

1) What are the chances of getting visa approved if I will schedule there visa interview together?
2) If they both go together for visa interview and get's rejected, then upon reapplying B2 visa for only my mother..what will be the chances for her to get the visa?
3) If I schedule there visa interviews separately then what are the chances for them to get it approved?
4) If I will schedule there visa interview separately then should I schedule there interviews on separate dates or I can schedule on the same date with different time slots?

The question you must answer first is that if your mother was to apply alone and get a visa will she travel alone? If the answer is that you want both of them to travel together then I would advice you to fix a common appointment. By scheduling your mothers appointment first and your sisters appointment after a few weeks, you are ensuring that your sister gets a reject.

You must wait for at least 3-6 moths before your sister applies alone. If you were to fix her appointment on the same day or after few days then its a sure shot reject because your mother will be asked as to why your sister is not travelling with her and her answer will be recorded in the system.

If your mothers pension + sisters salary is 10 lacs per year or more then they must self sponsor their trip and this will increase their success rate.

While some may say that widow + unmarried sister would be a strong case for someone to settle in the US and hence a reject, the fact that your mother owns a house and your sister is working for a known company would tilt the case in their favor.

No one can predict the outcome but to some extent you can control it by ensuring that your mother and sister are well prepared. Let them be prepared with following questions and some more that you will find in this forum.

B2 Visa Query

Thanks..I want both of them to travel but want to ensure that at least one of them gets visa so should I apply seperately to ensure that At least my mom gets the visa.

If they both go together and there visa gets rejected then how soon I can re-apply for only my mom and what will be the chances of her getting visa in that case?

Sorry to say, both have very high chances of denial whether applying separately or together. mom being a widow and your sis being single and very young.
So applying again after one denial does not make any sense because you cannot change their basic situation ( widowhood and sister's young and single status).

THey can apply after your sis gets married and settles down, they will have a better chance.

btw , what is your visa status in the US ?

I am on L1 visa.
My mother does have property on her name and she gets govt. pension.
My sister is single but she is working with a big IT firm with exp of 1.5 years.

Do you still think there visa will be rejected?

I have only single question...what do you recommend..they should apply together or separately in 1 months gap..in which case chances of getting visa will be more ?

Unfortunately, I think their chances are slim either way. If you go by the book, the embassy wants members of one family
to apply together even if travelling separately. So, if they still want to apply , apply together.

If your sis is earning well, or your mother has large savings, they can show self funding. that may go in their favor.
