  • Applying Tourist Visa for Parents, sister and Brother on 9th Jan | Need tips

Hi. My parents, my sister (27 years) and my Brother (15 years) are applying for B2 visa and the interview is scheduled on 9th Jan. I study in US and another sister of mine is a green card holder (Married to US citizen) and is the one who is inviting the family for two reasons - taking them on a tour around US and also inviting them to attend her house warming ceremony. Since I am not graduating for another year, I can't invite them for convocation hence my sis did the invitation part. Let me provide few details about my family who are applying for Visa :-

1.) Both Dad and Mom are into real estate and earn money through rental of commercial and residential spaces. Together, their income is 25-26L. They visit Saudi Arabia every year.
2.) My Sister is a doctor who earns about 15k per month.
3.) My brother will be finishing his 10th. He visits Saudi Arabia with my parents every year.
4.) All of them are travelling to US for the first time. And its purely tourism reason. No plans on staying back as My parents have properties here to maintain and sister has her job.
5.) My dad is sponsoring for himself, sister and brother. And Mom for herself.
6.) All have their appointments together at same time. Applied as family (obviously).

Now I have some questions :-

1.) What documents should my Parents carry? They are going to carry CA report, CE report, Property papers, Income Tax papers, Bank papers. Going to carry my and my sister's Birth Certificate. Old Passports. Anything else which my parents should carry?
2.) What documents should my sister carry? She will be carrying No objection certificate, Leave certificate and some payment stubs I believe. Since her income is less than 2L, she does not pay Income Tax.
3.) What documents should my Brother carry? Only a Bonafide from current school? He would have finished his boards then and will be on break at the time of Travel (1st April)
4.) What documents should they carry for OFC appointment?
5.) Any tips my family should follow?

Any help will be appreciated... Really want them to get Visas and roam US

    Thank you!

I think is just too much that the whole family are applying at the same time, might lead to visa be denied, maybe your parents should apply alone first then after they get back from the the others can apply that way the all stand a better chance of getting their visa. My opinion not legal advice.

Thanks ramz. But I am confused. Don't they encourage everyone applying at the same time? I am pretty sure my parents will get visa but I am a little doubtful about my sister. Anyway, does anyone know if they reject/approve the entire group or do they also selectively approve half and reject half of a family application?

now that the interview is scheduled, let them all appear. Yes, your sis has almost nil chance ; being young, single( I assume) and being a low earning doc( no offense intended) , she will be suspect as a potential immigrant. She should not have applied in her current situation.

Yes, they can selectively deny and approve in the same group .

Most decisions are made without them lookng at many documents and
        too many documents create clutter and confusion at the window for the applicant so should take only the important ones;

*invitation from sis , copy of her GC.
*parents' income proof ( tax returns, bank statement) real estate business proof
*Doctor sis's job letter and salary slip though they won't ask for it as it is low ( no offense).
*bro's proof of ongoing enrolment in school .

Thanks. Well, she is getting married this year in India itself. The engagement hasn't taken place. Do you think we can mention her being engaged and that she will be coming back for her wedding? For that do I need to present some documents?

Also, Proof of ongoing enrollment = Bonafide Certificate?

Thanks a lot for your reply.

No. if you say engaged, they can ask for engagement pictures. She should say what the truth is.
Sometimes people get lucky with a lot of negatives.

bonafide certificate is the same as enrolment cert.
