Tourist Visa to INDIA - a US CITIZEN

My name is Rahul, an Indian Citizen, and I am taking my wife(a US Citizen, we got married last year in USA) to India to perform Indian wedding in India, and also planning to go to Maldives Island. So would she be allowed to leave India to go to Maldives and then go back to India in a week? Or does the two month restriction doesn’t apply to a US Citizen?
