  • B2 to Green Card

I'm just curious as to how many people undergo the B2 to Green card process after marriage to US citizen without an attorney? I've heard the agents can make your case a living hell and that having an attorney will help guarantee an easier expedited process. Any advice?

sure, you should start your process cos that way you can get EAD/AP, I got mine 2 month after I applied just waiting on the interview for the GC.

Use of an attorney for a visa conversion (B2 to Green Card status) is no guarantee of faster processing. It's how the paperwork is completed that matters, and many attorneys leave the form filling to their clerical staff, and/or don't review the final documents that well.

Having said that, an attorney who is a member of AILA (American Immigration Lawyers Association) has taken steps to bolster his professional status. Unfortunately, there is a wide range of "market" fees for attorney-completed standard procedures. Family member petitions can cost $800 to $4,000, depending on the reputation of the attorney and what the "market will bear" in a given area.
