  • Mutually Separatred Marital Status

I am filling out the DS160 form for applying visitor visa for my mother-in-law. She was married and was mutually separated long back. Her passport also doesn't have the spouse name included in it.

In this case, what marital status should i select (Married or Other (with the explanation saying Mutually separated)).

Also, if they ask any question in the embassy what should she respond to them.

    Please let me know.

    Thanks,
    Hari

Your mother-in-law is married. No matter how you describe her living arrangement, she is still married.

      Thanks Ray.

During the interview, in case if they ask further questions, can we still say that they were separated under mutual understanding.

This should be the interview of your mother-in-law, not your interview.

Anyway, the relationship with her husband has nothing to do with her visa application, and she shouldn't volunteer any information about it, unless speecifically asked.
