  • Parent's visitor visa, 6 month visa

I was planning to apply for my parent's visitor visa but I saw that there are chances to get a 6 month validity visa too. They have no plans to come to US within 6 months. In that case if we re-apply for visa, are there chances that there visa gets rejected because they didn't use there first visa?
Please help, this issue is making me little skeptical to apply for there visa as their application was already rejected once. What happens if we put expected travel date of next year and they still give 6 month visa?

    thank you

6 month visas are a rarity ; given to occasional applicants, keeping in mind the dates and the purpose.

If parents apply mentioning visit dates 6 months ahead, they will be granted a longer term visa.
Anyway, parents , if approved are given longer term visas , so rest easy.
