  • B-2 Visa Sponsorship for my Parents

    Hello all,

I have a question on sponsoring B-2 Visitor Visa for my Parents. Currently I'm on H1-B Visa and my brother is on F-1 Visa. My brother is going to graduate this coming summer and want our Parents to visit for his convocation.

Would it be good if my brother send all the required documents (as a sponsor) along with convocation invitation letter from the university for my Parents Visa?

As I'm on H1-B, would it be good if I sponsor my Parents Visa? I have all the required documents such as bank statements, pay stubs, tax returns etc where as my brother doesn't have all documents as he is on F-1 Visa and don't have on-campus job either.

Please give your valuable input on this, thanks very much.

    Sincerely,
    Ratna.

Honestly speaking getting sponsorship from someone in the US in itself is a negative, as it points to weak financial ties as it indirectly means that one is not able to afford ones own "visitor" trip.

Secondly, do you have any other sibling who is not present in US? If no, then both children already present in US is again a negative as no family ties back to home country.

In such a situation, I would strongly recommend they try only if they have a strong income in home country and self sponsor rather than you or your brother sponsoring them.

This is my opinion not legal advice.
