Visitor Visa ( Duration of Stay )

..What is the Minmum Duration that a Vistor Visa is Issued for..I am Planning to Bring My Mother for my Brothers Graduation in July / Aug of 2006 to US.. I have taken an Appt in Chennai on Jan 5 th 2006...

That may be too early. If she gets visa for 3 months or 6 months, she will have apply all over again.
