B2 Visa in a soon to be Expired Passport

Hello all,

My friend has a B2 visa in his passport which will expire within next 8 months. Now, he will get a new passport within next few months. Now my qes is, can he use his new passport to visit USA along with his old passport where the visa is stamped?

As far I know people can use the visa that is in their old/expired passport but here is one exception he has. He has never been to USA.

So, is it necessary he visits USA atleast once with the passport before it expires which is within next 8 months?

No need to visit USA at least once. Visa once allotted in passport is valid till its validity unless gets cancelled or is misused. Your friend should carry both the passports with him while travelling.
