Passport correction - Please reply

Has anybody got their name changed in Passport and how long does it take?

In mother's passport, surname is blank. First, middle and last names are on the same line. I think it will be good to get it changed before her visa interview.

If you go to mail office it will take 1-2 day.
In my mom's passport the address was wrong , so my dad went to Hyd office and the corrected it in a day.

dear dam GC, address is easy to get changed, but name is little bit difficult. one has to show the pappers which shows correct name. if name was miss printed of passport offices did not write surname (they forgot, which normally never happens) they can do it but to change the name.
