  • Applying sibling's tourist visa to attend marriage

    Dear users,

I am currently working in usa on H1 B visa and planning to get married here this summer. My parent already have a toursist visa, wanted to get an idea what are chances of my brother getting a tourist visa, if or shall I apply? Reason being he is young and currently studying.

Reason for marriage in usa is my fiance's whole family is settled here and its hard for them to arrange that in india.

Little bit about my brother, he is 21 years old and is into his final year of enginerring, graduating this May. He has visited UK in the past if that makes any difference. Only reason why I am little hesitant to apply is that I do not want to impact his visa chances if he is rejected as he is intrested is coming here on F1later next year.

I will be sending all necessary document to him.

Please let me know you thoughts/ experience. Will be great help!

    Thanks
    Harry

Very young and single; if not impossible , it is not easy to get a visitor visa.
Unless he can show a wealthy family background, and parents' funding for the trip.
His trip to UK is a secondary favorable point.
Still, it is all at the discretion of the officer, no one can be sure of the outcome.
Documents have nil or a small importance at the interview.

I would suggest he should focus on his F1 rather than a visitor visa.
Strategically, a B1/B2 denial may affect his F1 application relatively
    if not in absolute terms.

Thank you for your quick reply!

I was going through the same thought process too. Regarding funding my family will be showing 12 lakhs and more bank balance plus we have good property to show. What you think about the chances?

actually they look at income rather than bank balances. If he shows on the form that his parents will be funding, then they will ask what they do and how much they earn.
And even if they show a good income , nothing is guaranteed as each officer's judgement is different; the major issue being your bro's age and the casual purpose of visit.
I would suggest to let it go and focus on his F1.
