  • B2 Visa refused - 214b

    Hi,

My mother's B2 visa was rejected on 11th Mar 2014 in Hyderabad consulate and gave 214b form. May i know what could be the exact reason for rejection and when she can reapply for visa again. She gave the answers for all the questions asked by Visa Officer. I doubt one of the reason could have been as i recently, 6 months back moved to USA. For providing B2 visa will VO see when the sponsor moved to USA or there is any criteria like that. while reapplying for visa can i choose different consulate then prior one.

Kindly provide me necessary details. Thanks in advance.

there is no pre- set duration by law but inviting the parent only 6 mos after reaching, makes the officer think of "some desperation" ,"wife's pregnancy".Especially because she is going without her husband, and mentioning 5 months of stay.

Changing consulate for the sake of success won't work. If she has a genuine reason, she could do that but without a real reason, the officers frown.

I suggest the parents should apply when you have been there at least a year. Better they apply together. If your dad earns well, he can show self funding, that will improve the chances.Mentioning long periods like 5,6 mos of stay decreases chances of success .
