  • University in a same city where siblings live. -Suggestions Please !!

    Hello,

Here is my summary, I got B2 visa rejected in May 2013, then later went to London to pursue masters in september 2013. I didn't like the course and came back to India and have withdrawn from my masters course in Jan 2014. I still have a Tier 4 visa (student visa for Uk) stamp of my passport - expiry date till Jan 2015, Which is obviously no more valid.

And now, I am planning to apply for an Extension course at a very renowned university in California. My sister stays in the same city where I’m planning to apply. She is on a green card and my brother-in-law has a citizenship. (I did mention about my sister and brother-in-law in my previous DS-160 for B2 visa)

Will this effect my chances to get a F1 visa ?? (as I’m planning to take up a course in a same city where my sister stays)

How should I my case strong ? Please suggest

F1 does require you to prove an intent to return . and your denial of B1/B2 in the past could be due to your young age,
single status( I assume) and presence of settled immediate relative in US.
Presence of sis as a PR can have a bearing, albeit secondary, again when you will apply for an F1. Other factors are more important like your exam scores
    and your past academic credentials.
I would suggest you talk to a student visa counselor on the best way to handle that interview .

      Thank you for your suggestion

Could you please name a few good student visa counselor here in India, if you know. I have consulted a few already but they didn’t help much.
