  • Difference of Name in Visa and Passport

    hi

As per the information in my mom's passport, there is no Surname and the Given Name is Ritu Kaur, but
in the visa that we have received her Surname is mentioned as Kaur and Given Name is mentioned as Ritu.

Please confirm is the the way it should be or it need's correction.

Your assistance and immediate help in this regard would be really appreciated.

she will be able to travel, no problems . If she does not plan to immigrate , let it be like this. If she does plan to immigrate later, it can be an issue.
Get a new passport with a corrected name later in that case.

Difference of Name in Visa and Passport

I hope there will not be any problem at the port of entry in USA. She will never immigrate.

Later if she changes her name with new name I.e., Ritu Kapoor and visa would be old visa as per Ritu kaur, do we need to get the visa changed or we can attach old passport of Ritu kaur to the new passport of Ritu Kapoor and can she travel with the old visa??

first you mentioned that the names in both the passport and the visa were the same "Ritu Kaur" , only they differed in being mentioned properly as first and surname.

But now you are saying there is a different last name entirely KAPOOR, how is that?

              Hi Sahilkapoor15,

I am in the same situation. I have my name on the passport as Surname-BLANK + Given Name- YYYY X YYYYY however I have been issued B1/B2 visa with Surname-YYYYY and Given Name- YYYY X. I wanted to reach out to you to see if your mom was able to travel to US without any issues? I am planning to visit US within a month and want to ensure that it wouldn't be any problem. Any help that you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

                  Hi,

Yes she was able to travel widout any problem. For US visa surname is must as they recognise a person with their surname so I a person does not have a surname they always put second name as a surname in visa. Visa is absolutely fine, don't worry and njoy your trip.
