  • Tourist Visa for my future mother in law to attend our wedding

I am an American citizen marrying someone who is in the US without status. We have been together nearly 6 years, and are getting married very soon. He has some family here that will attend the wedding, but we desperately want his mother to be able to come from Mexico to be at our wedding. His mother just got approved for her passport and is getting ready to begin the process of applying for a visa to come to our wedding. We have already sent her the invitation that she could show to the immigration officer. She has property in her name in Mexico (their family has a farm), she takes care of her elderly father and a granddaughter that would remain in Mexico during her visit. She also has two of her own children and a long term boyfriend in Mexico. I am hoping these would be considered strong ties to her home country.

However, her brother and two of her sons are here in the US without status. I am afraid that although I am a citizen, that they may deny her visit if they find out my fiance is here without status. The reason for her visit is the wedding, so it makes sense for her to present the invitation, but when the groom is without status...I am just so worried. We have a limited amount of time so we may only have one shot. Help please!!!

yes, that is true. they can deny her the visa because her son and other members are in US without status.
and she will have to mention them in the form.

Is there any chance they won't deny her even knowing that, based on her other strong ties to Mexico? I know that her being 100% honest is probably the best way to go here, so I am guessing we just have to cross our fingers?

I forgot to mention, she does have two nieces here that are citizens. Don't know if that matters at all but I thought I would mention it.
