  • Visiting visa rejected

    Hi,
    My mom went to visa 2 days back and her visa got rejected.They did'nt mention any reason for rejection.But our is assumption is that it might be due to very low income specified in DS 160.
    Will there be a problem if we now change the income in DS 160 and schedule an appointment again for the very next date available?

    there can be other reasons as well. please post the complete picture;

    *who is she visiting in US , for how long and what is that person's visa status in US?
    *what about her husband , why is she going alone?
    *how many children in India?
    *was she being sponsored by someone or did she show that she herself is paying for the trip?
    *What income did she write of her own? what is the family occupation in India?

      My father was diseased long ago.And my mom has a garment factory that has income of aorund 2 lakhs/annum.
      Thats is what she mentioned in DS 160.Please see below discussion that went on
      Interviewer:Where does your son live
      My Mom: YYYY city,ZZZ state
      Interviewer:what does he do
      My Mom:system analyst at YYYY company
      Interviewr:do you have any other children in india
      My Mom:Yes I have one daughter
      Interviewer:Is she married?
      My mom:Yes
      Interviewer:What is your business?
      My Mom:Garment factory
      Interviewer:Whats is your income?
      My Mom:around 2 lakhs/annum
      Intervieweroes your son have own house in US?
      My Mom:No
      Interviwero your son and daughter-in law have kids?
      My Mom:No
      Interviewer:sorry we are not able to give you visa this time.Please try again.

      This is the discussion went on and as all other answers seem to be correct we thought that 2 main reasons would be that she is widowed and the other is beacuse of low income.Actually she gets income from other properties what she has.so her total income is actually more than what she said(thinking they only asked income for garment factory business).So if we now change the income in DS-160 and shcedule appointment again,will be considered as fraud?We are planning to schedule next appointment to the very next date available as i wont get leaves in my office later.

          *yes, widows find it difficult especially with only son in US and married daughter in India , they think she would like to live in US with her son.
          *Even her business income is very low so that is not enough to bring her back.
          *Plus mentioning 6 mo nths tells them she would like to live there for long. How can she stay 6m onths abroad if she really has interest in
          her garment business.

          I do not think there is any point in applying again so soon
          as they have everything on their computers and it is not just the income ,
          there are so many factors as I mentioned above.

          Wait for a few months, and show some change in situation.
          If her daughter's family earns well. she can apply with them next time instead of going alone.
          Apply for no more than a month.
          Show better income or you send sponsorship .

            Thank you!!
            One more thing is that they asked her if any one is is sponsoring.she said my son is sponsoring and mentioned the same in DS-160.
            I have also sent her sponsorship form and my bank statements with good balance.But they dint ask any documents.

            do you think we should put it as "Self" next time she goes to visa instead of keeping my name as sponsorer?

              self funding is always better but her income is very low for that.

              you should really wait a long time because chances of denial are very high if you will apply soon.

                  other factors are more negative than income;

                  most important is she is a widow and second is her only son is in US.

                  if you still decide to apply then;
                  1.apply after a few months.
                  2.should never apply alone. apply with daughter or her family.
                  3.Show at least 80k/month income who ever is funding from India.
                  4.apply for a short period like 1-2 months not longer.
