  • marriage i-30

Hi I am filing the I-30 for my spouse. I am a Us citizen. My husband came to the US about 10 years old on a visitor's visa. He never went back to his country. We got married in 2013. So my questions are do I just send the I-30 and a money order and wait til its approved to send supporting documents of our marriage? Or should I send it all at once. Another question is about how long do you think it would take for him to get his green card? Thanks.

there are a lot of things not just I-130 , you also have to file an I-485 (Adjustment of status) application and there will be an I-864 ( affidavit of support).
You should also prepare well for the interview later as that is the most important part where they make sure the marriage is real and not for the green card.

If you can afford a good attorney go through one as this is an important application.

It should take a few months depending on where you apply. Go to USCIS.gov and it tells you the procedure.

So you suggest an attorney? Just really need advice. Some people say no its easy. Others say its difficult. But an attorney is safer?

Since your spouse is undocumented, USCIS will want to make sure it is a real marriage.

So, it is a good idea to go through a good immigration firm, if cost is not an issue.
Also, if you have affidavit of support issues, they can help out with that.

a bad attorney will just file paperwork and not care.

Ok thanks. I will feel safer with an attorney than just myself who doesn't know what I'm doing.

I live in Chicago and my wife lives in Central Asia...I and my wife are doing the paper work ourselves...It is tedious but I feel comfortable in our efforts...I am following the I-130 guide lines...I wrote a 'what's needed list' and we are sticking to it...
