Hi. I'm an American trying to get some tips for maximizing the chances of obtaining a visitors visa for my girlfriend. She is from India, but we met while both working in the UAE. We are located there currently. I'd like to take her for a visit to meet my family in the USA about 6 months from now. We have no immediate plans to get married, although we do expect to eventually. Prior to arriving in the UAE several months ago, she had lived in India with her parents. She is well educated with several Masters degrees, and has had steady employment as a teacher for the past few years. She speaks very fluent English. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Visitors visa for Indian

As you probably know, the most important issue with a visitor visa is the potential to return home after the visit.
So, young and single , having already demonstrated migratory potential from home country ( by moving to UAE),
chances for a visitor visa especially for a casual visit will not be good. And the purpose to meet her American boyfriend's family
will get her an outright denial.
Please post;
Does she have any relatives in US and on what visas?
Has she ever been denied a US visa before? Details.
Is she alone in UAE or with some family from India?
What is the nature of her job in UAE and what kind of salary does she get?

Hi peace999, thanks for the reply. I know the chances are not particularly good, but hopefully there are at least some things that could be done to increase them. She is planning a return trip to India in the summer, would it maybe help if she went through the application process then while she was in her home country? The answers to your questions are below in bold.

Is she alone in UAE or with some family from India? Her brother's wife lives in UAE but they have separate residences
What is the nature of her job in UAE and what kind of salary does she get? She is a middle school teacher at a British school. Typical teacher's salary.

usually one should apply at the place of current residence. She has a good job at UAE but no family ties and she has to show a logical purpose to go to US.
Applying with a purpose to tour US all alone will not make sense. If she had close relatives in US, she could apply to visit them but she does not have any.
Maybe if the school could send her with some other teachers to US for some teacher's conference or seminar, it could be possible.
Or applying in India, she could show a package tour visit to US with parents provided they all are rich and have a history of travel to other countries.
Other than that, she could think of looking for a teaching job in US and going there on a work visa( H-1b).
