  • B2 visa for mother

    Hi,

I am on H1b for the past 1 year and would like my mom to visit the USA. My sister is also here in the USA.

I want to apply B2 visa for her but I got to know that there is no sponsorship for B2 visa. But immihelp says I need to submit I 134 and other sponsor documents (payslip, bank statement , etc) Please let me know the exact process.

Also in DS 160, what should my mother mention in the section which asks who is sponsoring for the trip ? My father is retired but he receives pension every month. (He wont accompany my mother this time)

What all documents should they carry ? There seems to be some contradiction to what is stated in immihelp section under B2 visa and what actually needs to be done. Can someone please clarify ?

you have an option. Either they can show self funding ( write SELF in the form to the question of who is paying) Or you can send I-134 etc. showing that you are paying for the trip.
For the first option, they must have good savings as your dad is retired(eg. 15 lacs) and take proof of that.

Other issues; your mother traveling alone will have decreased chances of visa success. I suggest both should apply together.
Another major issue will be if they have any other children in India.

They dont have any other children in India. My sister is in USA and married. How much savings should I show if I am sponsoring the trip for my parents.

Suppose my father attends the interview along with my mother, but does not use the visa until next year (does not travel to USA unil next year), would that be a problem ?

Your income will be important $60k/yr + is good .There is no official cut off bank balance but in my opinion,$15-20k should be ok.
NO children in India usually has a negative impact on the decision.

About your dad traveling later, it won't matter but he will have to declare his plans in the form and he should not lie.
