  • visit visa for my mother

I want to apply a visit visa for my mother. My mother has been approved visas twice in last 12 years on my sister's sponsorship as my pay was not good enough back than. She has visited usa 3 times before. Her age is 67 and is a widow.
Now i applied for my own visa earlier this year on my personal employment papers, my owned properties and bank statements and was successfully granted a visa.
This time i want to sponsor my mother myself as i feel i have good enough ties with my country of residence.
Do you think it will be ok if i sponsor her instead of having my sister sponsor her. If yes than please tell me what documents would be good and what is worth mentioning on a cover letter.

    Few more points.
My sister is a US citizen and is a physician there.
I am married and have 2 kids.
    My mother is a homemaker.

    Thank you
    Vohra

    some qs;
when did your dad pass away?
When was her last visa issued and when did it expire?
What is your annual salary roughly?
Is she living with you in INdia?

My dad passed in 1995. Till than she had never applied.for visa.
Her first visa was issued in 1999 and expired in 2004. She visited my sister twice in that duration. She got her next visa in 2005 that expired in october 2010.
My annual income in dollar would be around 100k.
She lives with me on a permanent visa under my sponsorship in dubai for the past 3 years.

      Thank you

Ok. you are in dubai. I was wondering if there is something different because in India, widows find it hard to get visitor visas.
Also here they usually issue 10 yr visas to parents.

I think it should be fine. When applying for the visa she can mention that she is visiting her daughter with you and that you are funding the trip.
She can take a copy of your visa and your income and work proof to the interview.

Another thing; if your sister recently became a US citizen, that can influence the decision as then she becomes an immediate relative of a USC.

Ok gr8. She can mention that she wants to visit my sister as she will be alone behind if she doesnt go with me.
My sister is an american citizen for the past 7 or 8 years or may be more. I think i should attach my flight return tickets with other documents. My kids( her grand children) go to school here in dubai. I do have bonafide certificates from school but i dont think that would be required in my mother's case.

Anyways, thank you so much for your help. I will now proceed in getting the interview date. I hope she gets her visa as she will really wants to visit her dughter for a month. If she doent get successful than my sister will have to sponsor her.

          Thankx again

the only reason for possible denial I can see is your sister becoming a US citizen after 2005 . If you are a parent of a US citizen, it becomes difficult , if not impossible, to get a visitor visa because you can easily adjust to green card while in US on a visitor status.

If denied for that reason, your sister will have to file an immigrant petition for her if she ever wants to go to US again.
