I am currently studying in BITs Dubai, UAE. I am doing mechanical engineering. I have applied for B2 Visa as i will be participating in a car making competition called "Formula SAE" to be conducted in Michigan CIty. I also have an invite for participating int he competition from Formula SAE and a letter from my college mentioning that i am participating and will have to return in order to complete my final examinations.
Now i had my interview scheduled on 21st and my visa was rejected. Below is the detail of my interview
Q1: I see that you have a visa stamped already last year. May i know why you did not visit
A1: My paternal grandmother passed away around the time we were supposed to fly. I was supposed to fly with my family and because of he untimely demise we had to cancel our plans
Q2: You seemed to have traveled to Nepal and India
A2: Yes Mam
Q3: Purpose of your visit
A3: Mam i am part of a group called "Gear Shifters" in my college and we are participating in a competition called "Formula SAE" in Michigan City. They require 7 drivers to participate and i am one of their 7 drivers
Q4: Who is sponsoring you
A4: My Father
Q5: For how long have you stayed in Dubai
A5: I have been staying here for now 3 consecutive years and my father has been working in Dubai for 14 years now
Q6: Do you have relatives in US
A6: Yes. My uncle lives there
Thats all. SHe gave me a rejection slip. The rejection was under section 214 B. I was not asked for any supporting documents. I went to Nepal before my grand mother passed away. I have another interview scheduled on 24th. Can you please advise as to how must i prepare this time around.
