Question on DS-157, birth certificate

I have booked the appt for my parents through TTS . My father is of 58 years of age, so will he need to carry the DS-157 form with him. Interview is in chennai. And also, I heared people saying that if interview is taken through TTS, child's original birth certificate is not needed. Can anyone clarify these two for me .

If you have booked appointment through TTS, you should follow old procedure.
That is,

*DS-157 not needed for Chennai consulate. Read /us-visa-and-immigration-forms/ds-157.html

*No original birth certificate needed for Chennai consulate.
