How important are income tax returns to get a visitor visa?

My mom is applying for a visitor visa. She has not been working for four years and so unfortunately she does not have her tax papers in order. How important are these? Does the CO check these closely?

My mom lives alone, I have one sister in the same city. How easy or difficult will it be for her to get the visa? She has property in her name, FDs and enough bank balance. Is someone else also facing the same situation?

IT returns demonstrate
ties to home country by way of showing good regular income and tax payee
status and they also show your financial strength in terms of income and
not just your savings(which can be borrowed). If you are not working , they are not absolutely essential, but you must be able to show other evidence of ties to home country like family ties.

In your mother's case , it may be hard to show ties since she is living alone
and she does not have a job. So there is nothing significant that will make her come back from US. Property, FDs, savings are secondary.

income tax papers are extremly important....they only belive in tht as far as the financial status is concerned.
