  • Which is the best suitable Visa Type for my Mother

    Hi,

I have L1A visa (valid for 3 years), still in my home country. I want a Dependent or Tourist Visa done for my Mother (who is a widow). In case my Mother gets Tourist Visa, then she would return in 5-6 months, if some other Visa where she can spend more time with me in the USA, then she would go along-with me and return with me.

My mother’s younger sister is in USA who is yet to receive her Green Card (however her GC is applied).

I may have to travel to US in a month and I want my mother to have the US Visa done right away so that she can travel with me (As travel to US would require her change-over her flight somewhere in Europe or Dubai)

Answers what I am looking for:

    1. What are the Visa Types under which we can apply US Visa for my mother.
    2. If we should file Tourist Visa for my Mother’s Visa (what is better, After I have spent few months in USA or now itself).
    3. Whether my Aunt (mom’s younger sister) should send an Invite (she doesn’t work in USA but lives there).
    4. Please suggest the recommended documents for such Visa applications.

    Regards, AANSHU

She is a Pension Drawing homemaker (61 years, widow), I have 2 sisters, who would remain in India. I need to travel to US for work. As per Indian tradition, I shouldn't leave my mom alone in India and also not with sisters (may be couple of months she can spend with them, worst case scenario 6 months with me, followed by 3 months cool off with sisters and then again back with me in case it is going to be only B-2 (tourist Visa)). However, I am not sure how long we can keep doing this.

First of all, a visitor visa for a pensioner widow is going to be hard , if not impossible. This is the only category possible.

Unless she had somebody who could file a green card for her.

They deny exactly for the purpose you want the visa for her; trying to keep her with you in US.
She should apply when you have been there for a few months.
Even then chances are not great because of her widow and retired status but she should try at least once.
Trying to take her with you is out of the question.

She can try with a sister of yours rather than trying alone.
