  • Atleast 6-months in hometown rule?

My parents are planning to visit the U.S for vacation in May, for a period of 2 months. They have a valid B-2 Visa for 10 years. This will be their first international travel form India. They are planning to travel to the U.S again in November, for medical reasons.

I would like to know if there is any such rule that they have to stay in India for atleast 6 months before travelling to the U.S again? I know there is no official rule laid out, but has anyone experienced any problems at the immigration counter at the port of entry, where entry into the U.S has been denied solely on the grounds that they have traveled to the U.S within less than 6-months of their stay back in India?

Any tips and information regarding this is greatly appreciated !

    No 6 Month Rule

    Dear Suchismita,

there is no such 6 months rule. i personally know people who have traveled back in 15 days after staying for 3 months and there is no problem.
At Point of Entry, the officers only concern is that you are not working illegally when you return back. since your parents will be going back after 3 months they only have to present a good enough reason. Medical reasons is a fair enough reason... !
