  • Visa approved and administrative processing

    Hello
I attended my visa interview on Friday, 9th May 2014 at US Embassy London. I was told that my visa has been approved and that within 5-6 business days the courier will e-mail me to track my passport. However, on 12th May I received an e-mail from Embassy asking me to provide additional information about my parents. Their full names, date of births, town/city of birth, nationalities and where do they live now. I am married and my husband is on ILR in England. I am going to meet my sisters in USA. The Consular Officer didn't check any documents. Just asked me a couple of questions and that's it.
I e-mailed the embassy and this is the reply i got:

    Thank you for your inquiry.
Embassy records indicate that the Nonimmigrant Visa Unit has determined that your application requires additional administrative processing, which is mandatory and cannot be waived or expedited. As processing varies in each individual case, there is not set period of time that it takes. As such, any times quoted should be used only as a guide and we cannot guarantee processing by any set date.
Please be assured that as soon as the additional administrative processing in your case is complete, you will be notified.

Please tell me if this is not something unusual.
