B2 expired - is ESTA ok?

Hello to you

My B2 for the states run out in March and I’m not sure if I need to renew it every 10 years.

I’d like to go to the US this summer for a little holiday (14 days). Is it ok to just get an ESTA.
I don’t want to stay for longer than 90 days.

OR will I get in trouble at the border with only an ESTA as they know I used to have a B2.

Any help would be great

if you were never denied a B1/B2 in the past, then you can travel on ESTA

My first B2 application in 2000 was rejected and I got it in 2004 without any problems.

Could it be that I now will have to renew it for the rest of my life?

state dept website says that to be eligible for a visa waiver program there should be No Prior Visa Ineligibilities

if you were later found eligible for a B2 after being denied one, it seems you still can't use VWP as per the state dept website.

Try getting an ESTA approval, see if it works.
