  • Information needed for visitor visa

    Hi,
I am planning to get my in-laws to US sometime around September / October of this year on a visitor visa. They are currently in Chattisgarh and will be visiting for the first time. I am looking for some information and it would be great if any of you could help with the answers.

    1. Are there any visa consultants in Bhilai, Chattisgarh?
    2. My H1 will expire in Sep 2014 and I will be filing for an extension. What could be the possible impact of my H1 expiring on their visitor visa. Can this impact the visa tenure?
    3. Say I go to a consultant today, how long will it take from start to end to get visitor visa?

These are some basic questions I had before i could get started. At this time, I am having them get their passports. They are in that process, meanwhile I am trying to collect as much information as possible. I am also browsing through the forums to see if i could get answers to the above questions / any other related information.

    Thank you very much!

honestly speaking, you do not need a consultant. Most people do it themselves as there is nothing much to it to require a consultant.
They will just charge you money for completing the forms which ideally one should do oneself to avoid any mistakes.
The website USTRAVELDOCS.COM guides you very nicely for each step.

the total processing time depends on the appointment availability at the consulate. You check the appointment wait times on Travel.state.gov
Usually the appointments are available within a couple of weeks.
If one is interviewed today and there is success, the passport is delivered within a week. Unless there is something in your in-laws'
background to require admin. processing ( for example, work with military, sensitive govt departments, nuclear research etc.).

about your expiring H-1, it may have an impact depending on the officer not on the tenure but on the decision, since september is not too far. If you want to avoid that uncertainty let them apply after you have your extension approved.
