  • B2 Visa - For my Mother-In-Law

    Hi Senior, I have blocked B2 visa interview in chennai, she is running a business [Manufacturing], She holds land and house in her name. She is a widow. All the supporting documents as invitation is sent.

    Please let me know whether she will be able to get B2?

    1. what did you exactly write on the DS160 form to the questions;

    *who is paying for the trip,
    *her profession,
    *her income,
    *duration of her visit

    2.what is your visa status and how long have you been in US ?
    3.Does she have any children in India or is she living alone?

        OK.
        Sometimes they are biased against widows who have no children living with them in India.
        They think they are not likely to return as they have no spouse and no child in their house in India.

        In her case a positive factor is her work status. she could have written self as paying for the trip
        but now that you have submitted the form, just leave it.

        So, it is her luck as there is so much officer discretion , nothing can be said for sure.

        a duration of 3 months may make them ask who will take care of her business for that long a period.
        It would have been better if she could have mentioned a shorter period as she has to run a business.

        Also, they may suspect pregnancy with her daughter in US as she is going alone for 3 m onths.

        In future, please post queries before submitting the form so you can use the suggestions posted here.
