can a H1b living in US sponsor for visitor visa(B2) for parents ?

Hello Senior Members,
My parents living in Hyderabad, India are planning to go for visitor visa(B2). I have been searching for documents required for B2 visa interview and was confused about sponsor documents. I have below questions.

I 'm on H1b living in US. so i have questions if my parents have to show their own funds and go for a visa interivew or can i show my funds ( giving affadavit of support) to my parents.

1.Can a person in US sponsor funds for his parents ( showing bank balance and sufficient funds for their trip and stay to US). Also sending affidavit of support.
2. Do my parents have to show their own funds ?
3. Visitor visa reason for travel: In my case- parents will be visiting to see me and also travel. Will this reason be fine ?
4. Can any one send me the documents require for a visiting visa ? any link would be great.

Of course you can sponsor them. I did it for my parents and my parents-in law. There was no issue and visa was approved in 2-3 questions only.

You need to send a I-134 (Sponsor affidavit form) and a bank verification letter to show that you have enough funds to support their trip and stay in US. (Usually minimum 6000 $ is considered good). Plus an invitation letter and a letter to consulate. There are few more additional supporting documents too which are not mandatory but you can send to support your application. I can email you that if required.

2. Do my parents have to show their own funds ?
(Yes, though you are sponsoring, but it shows their back ties. It also shows that they are earning well in their home country and they have no intention to work or stay in US)

3. Visitor visa reason for travel: In my case- parents will be visiting to see me and also travel. Will this reason be fine ?
(Yes, that's what tourist visa is for.! visiting and seeing places in US)

4. Can any one send me the documents require for a visiting visa ? any link would be great.

I would also like to add one important point.

If your parents are earning well like 10-12L/yr or if they are retired and have good savings like 20-25 L, you do not need
to send any affidavit of support or any financial documents. They can declare on the form that they are self paying.
Self paying also increases the chances for visa success.

But if their income is in doubt, it is best to sponsor ( send I-134 etc.) as that is commonly successful as well.

I agree but i have seen senior members in this site saying that a non immigrant cant sponsor for another non immigrant visa.

There is no option of sponsorship for B2 visa and the applicants have to show their own funds.

Also, i haven't seen any interviewer asking about child's( sponsor person) details or bank statements, funds while approving their parents visa.

The general questions asked were length of stay and purpose of the visit. The B2 visa is for tourism and when the applications( parents) doesn't have funds there is no intention of giving visa. US gives visa to promote tourism and gain economy. I'm not sure what happened in your case but there is genuine site answering this sponsorship questions.

THey usually do not look at any documents. But read what you have filled in the form. For example to the question " who is paying"
if parents have good income like I explained in my post below, they can write "self" or if you are sponsoring they can write " son in US".

In parents' case it can work both ways but if they are rich and well earning, writing 'self' is better.

It is wrong to say that non-immigrants cannot sponsor for visitor visa. People do it everyday.

Thanks for the clarification. I have seen few of them saying that non immigrants are not supposed to sponsor ( in other forums) and few of them got denials which is the reason i was asking these questions.
