Hi All,
We live in USA and my parents are planning to visit us from India on visitor visa. My parents have 10 year multiple entry visa to USA. The visa is expiring on Feb 7, 2015. They are planning to travel from Oct 15, 2014 and stay in USA for 6 months, so they are planning to stay here in USA till Apr 15, 2015. But their 10 year visitor visa is expiring on Feb 7, 2015. I saw that they are valid to travel to USA until the date of visa expiry. But if the visa expires during their stay here in USA, what are the implications? Does their last day of stay in USA for the 6 month period depend on the immigration officer who stamps the date on I-94? Or do they only have validity until the visa expiry date? Is it recommended to apply for their visa now itself in July 2014, so they may get another 10 year multiple visa? Or should we not do anything and if they get 6 months in I-94, then we apply for their visa renewal after they come here? Please share your experiences and any guidance on this.
Thanks so much!
